Lejo créé une forme unique et originale de théâtre. Ses marionnettes ne sont composés que de mains nues et de yeux en bois. 'Hands up!' (haut les mains !) est un spectacle musical familial sans paroles, plein de poésie et de drôlerie. Dans un décor bleu les marionnettes font une démonstration de leurs talents. Un chien costaud, 2 danseurs à claquettes, une vache avec un problème alimentaire, un chœur d’enfants avec son chef d’orchestre et de nombreux autres personnages passent en revue. Le public (jeune et plus âgé !) oublie rapidement qu’il est en train de regarder deux mains.

Lejo, de son vrai nom Leo Petersen, manipule ses marionnettes depuis 1995. Ce qui n’était initialement qu’un projet de fin d’études d’école d’art est devenu un numéro qui a parcouru le monde entier.

‘Hands up!’ est une succession de scènes isolées qui dure 45 minutes. Il pourra être raccourci si la situation l’exigera. C’est un spectacle pour toute la famille. Il y a une version 3+ et une version 4+. Le spectacle s’exprime au mieux dans une salle (de théâtre) obscure mais il peut également être joué dans une salle éclairée.

La version de rue dure 20 ou 30 minutes. Pour cette version, Lejo prendra des bancs et un petit podium en bois.

Après la représentation des découpages pourront être distribués, avec lesquels le public pourra faire sa propre ‘marionnette Lejo’.

‘Hands up!’ est très adapté pour les écoles maternelles et primaires. La version scolaire est complémentée de 2 vidéos qui pourront être diffusés en classe, une avant et une après la représentation.

Selon la distance, Lejo voyage en voiture, en train ou en avion. Quand il voyage en voiture, il prend son propre matériel de sonorisation et d’éclairage et, si nécessaire, un fond noire et un tapis de danse. Quand Lejo prend l’avion ou le train, il apporte une version légère qui rentre dans une valise de 23 kg.

With nothing more than his bare hands and wooden eyes, Lejo has created a unique, fresh style of puppet theatre. ‘Hands up!’ is a lively, wordless family show, filled with music, humor and tenderness. In a big, blue decor the puppets have their adventures and perform their tricks. A boisterous dog, two tap dancers, a cow with eating problems, an entire children’s choir - including the conductor - and many others, take to the stage. The audience (young and old alike!) soon forgets it is watching two hands.  

Under stage name 'Lejo', Leo Petersen has been performing live and filming his puppets since 1995. What began as a school project, became an act with which he now travels around the world. His short videos have been broadcasted in the Dutch version of Sesame Street and in several other countries.

'Hands up!' is a string of individual scenes. The performance lasts no longer than 45 minutes, but can be shortened to adjust to any situation. It is a real family show, there are versions for ages 3+ and 4+. The show is at its best in a dimmed theater space, but can also be performed in venues that can't be blackened out. There is also an outdoor version of the show, which lasts 20 or 30 minutes.

After the show, cardboard models can be handed out to the audience for them to build their own Lejo puppet.

'Hands up!' show is perfect for school performances. The school show is supported by 2 videos which can be watched in the classroom before and after the performance (at this moment only available in Dutch, German and French, soon also in English)

Leo Petersen travels alone. If the distance can be traveled by car, he bring his own lighting and sound equipment and, if necessary, a black backdrop and black theater floor. The lightweight airplane- and train version is made of carbon fibre and fits in a regular suitcase (23 kg).

Met blote handen en houten ogen creëert Lejo een unieke, frisse vorm van poppentheater. 'Hands up!' is een vrolijke, woordloze voorstelling met veel muziek. Vanuit een grote blauwe poppenkast vertonen de poppen hun kunsten. Een stoere hond, 2 tapdansers, een koe met een eetprobleem, een heel kinderkoor inclusief dirigent en vele anderen passeren de revue. Het publiek (jong en oud!) vergeet al snel dat ze naar twee handen zit te kijken.

Onder de naam 'Lejo' maakt Leo Petersen al sinds 1995 voorstellingen en filmpjes met zijn poppen. Wat begon als een studieproject groeide uit tot een act waarmee hij de hele wereld over reist. In Nederland en Vlaanderen is Lejo vooral bekend door de filmpjes die hij maakte voor Sesamstraat.

‘Hands up!’ is een aaneenschakeling van losse scènes. De voorstelling duurt maximaal 45 minuten, maar kan worden ingekort als de situatie dat vereist. Het is een echte familievoorstelling, er is een versie voor 3+ en voor 4+. 'Hands up!' komt het best tot zijn recht in een verduisterde theaterzaal, maar kan ook worden gespeeld in ruimtes zonder theaterfaciliteiten en in ruimtes met veel daglicht.

Na afloop van de voorstelling kunnen kartonnen bouwplaatjes aan het publiek worden uitgedeeld, waarmee ze een eigen Lejo-poppetje kunnen maken.

'Hands up!' is ook zeer geschikt als schoolvoorstelling voor het basisonderwijs. Ter vervanging van een lesbrief zijn er nu 2 video's van ca. 12 minuten beschikbaar om vóór en na de voorstelling te bekijken in de klas.

De buitenversie van 'Hands up!' duurt 20 of 30 minuten en is geschikt voor alle leeftijden. Voor deze versie verzorgt Lejo een podiumvlonder en houten bankjes.
